Visitors in Haiti
Our team was able to start making rounds to visit our communities and bring them provisions this week. Among them are long-time Haiti H2O friends Matthew and Christina Hansley.
Matthew grew up in Les Cayes, Haiti and has known some of the pastors we partner with all his life. He was able to visit Meloniere and Pastor Voltaire.
Pastor Voltaire’s house was completely flattened, and he was just able to get his wife and family out before it collapsed. Pastor Voltaire talks about it in the video below.
Along with his house being destroyed, the church was badly damaged (they are now having church outside) and 280 houses in his community were flattened.
Our team is one of the first to make it out to these rural areas that were effected by the earthquake. In order to do so, they traveled on roads that were damaged and crossed 3 rivers.
Please pray for Pastor Voltaire, his family, and his community. We are so thankful that the lives of him and his family were spared, and that no one else in his area died—even with the large scale of destruction they experienced. Pray for him as he ministers to his community while also trying to recover personally.
