Boots on the Ground

Your donations are making a difference.

Thanks to your generosity, our team in Haiti is able to get help to the remote communities where we partner. We have sent emergency funds to purchase medical supplies and meet other urgent needs. Jeanne and Jules will be delivering these supplies and funds directly to our partners over the weekend.

We are also partnering with organizations in other areas of Haiti to utilize local resources, such as Haitian-grown food and water filtration systems already in country.

Our Haitian Directors, Jeanne and Jules, have been busy this week not only caring for their own personal loss, but also touching base with our partner communities to assess the damage and start paving the way to address immediate medical and basic daily needs.

We recently got these photos from Plain Matin, showing some of the damage to the buildings in their small village that lost 8 people in the earthquake.

Plain Matin's church (above) has significant cracks and the top of the front wall collapsed and fell on Pastor Pharyl's motorcycle — his family's transportation for school and travel to markets.

Pastor sent us photos of some homes in his community that suffered significant damage from the earthquake (below).

Lenord also sent us pictures of the tent city starting to form in Les Cayes from the many displaced by the earthquake. Our partner, Dr. Sony, and our long-time translator, Watlin, both lost their family homes in the earthquake. They've asked for our prayers as they seek to rebuild and find shelter in the meantime.

The needs are great at this time. Food was already scarce prior to the earthquake and now it's even more difficult to locate. In addition, the River Glace, Plain Matin's main water source, has been contaminated by a large landslide, so there's an urgent need for clean water. Please consider donating to our efforts to help in this time of crisis.
