Meet Jay Thier

Bonjou ak benediksyon pou tout moun!

Greetings and blessings to you all!

It is with feelings of humility, anticipation, excitement—and yes, some trepidation—that I join the Haiti H2O family. I have observed the excellent work of Haiti H2O through my family over the last 10 years. Now I look forward to meeting and working with each and every one of the stakeholders involved with this mission.

I use the word “join” purposefully, as most definitions of mission include some concept of accompaniment—a “togetherness” where we all seek to create a positive, lasting, self-sustaining impact.

An acquaintance of mine from a Central American mission once told me that they try to help eliminate the negatives—whether they be spiritual, emotional, physical, or financial—to allow people to flourish and use their God-given talents for the benefit of others. This sharing of talent from every stakeholder is a core belief of Haiti H2O, and I believe, one of the reasons for its proven success. A success not measured by the number of youth trips or the number of dollars donated, but by the combined accomplishment of everyone involved—together.

I am so excited about going to Haiti to meet our mission partners and community members as soon as that is possible. I am also looking forward to connecting personally with all of you who have contributed so much to the success of this organization.

In the meantime, I will have to be content with some (literal) “seat of the pants” fundraising via the Bike4Haiti in September.

Until I get the privilege of meeting you in person, thank you and God bless you!

Mesi e Bondye beni ou!
